Peeples Industries, Inc. announced at the April 2015 Screven County Development Authority Board meeting that they have opened a wood chipping operation on Industrial Park Road in in Sylvania.  The operation represents a 1.5 million dollar investment in Screven County and will create 5 full-time jobs.  They will invest 5 million annually in the purchase of local wood products.  Peeples Industries, Inc. is a maritime logistics company with a long-time presence in Savannah.  Regina Morgan and Joey Newsome represented the company at the board meeting and gave a brief presentation.

“Peeples Industries is a family-owned business that has been in operation for 50 years,” says Screven County Development Authority Chairman Bobby Smith.  “They are the kind of company that will be a great fit in our community for years to come and they will support our strong existing wood products cluster.”

The wood chips made in Screven County will be exported to Turkey.  This project was code-named Project Dale and was assisted by Alyce Thornhill of the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
