Screven County Development Authority Honored By Georgia House and Senate For 50th Anniversary

Feb 2013

SYLVANIA – Screven County Development Authority was presented with resolutions in honor of its 50th anniversary by both Senator Jesse Stone and Representative Jon Burns on the floor of the Georgia House and Senate January 30th and 31st.  This was the kick-off for a year-long series of events commemorating the 50th anniversary and recognizing local manufacturing partners.

“We appreciate Representative Burns and Senator Stone and their staffs for the warm welcome they gave us at the capitol,” says SCDA Board Member Davy Wells.  “We are lucky to have legislators that are ready and willing to assist with industrial development issues in Screven County, whether it is with our existing partners or a potential new industry.”

“Screven County Development Authority is a constitutional authority that was created by the power of our state legislature 50 years ago,” says Executive Director Dorie Bacon.  “We are excited to have had the opportunity to kick off our 50th anniversary celebration with the body that created our authority.  Industry is a crucial part of Screven County’s economy, from our large employers like King America Finishing and Koyo Bearings to some of our mid-sized partners like Boswell Machine Company and Curtis Lumber & Manufacturing.  We look forward to continuing to spend the next 50 years working to promote manufacturing in our community.”
